About Us

My name is Michael Pattinson, and I’ve been a Clinical Hypnotist for over 15 years — but before anything else, I’ve always been a futsal player.

I was born and raised in Peru, where street soccer isn’t a hobby — it’s life. Futsal was our daily bread. Every day after school, we played barefoot on dusty streets, chasing rhythm, flow, and instinct. It wasn’t just a game. It was identity, survival, and joy — all at once.

When I came to Australia in 1989, I didn’t speak the language yet, but I brought the game with me. On my second day in the country, I joined a futsal session — and after a few nutmegs and cheeky passes, they kept asking me to play again and again. By the third day, I had a job. That’s how powerful the game can be. It opens doors. It builds bridges. It shapes who you are.

Since then, I’ve been coaching futsal and small-sided teams across Castlemaine, Spring Gully, and Bendigo, and I proudly hold a C-Licence from Football Victoria. I’ve also served as an Assistant Coach at Bendigo FC and coached four championship-winning teams with Kelly Sports — from U12 to U15 — all under the banner of the Otorongos.

My son, Alex, has been playing futsal and soccer since he was six. He trains daily, competes weekly, and lives the game with the same fire I had in the streets of Lima.

Why We Coach This Way

For us, futsal is more than a sport.
It’s a creative path through life.

We train kids to move with intelligence, express themselves with courage, and embrace chaos — because that’s how life comes at you. We use the game to build resilience, confidence, and identity. A nutmeg isn’t just a skill — it’s a statement. A smart pass isn’t just technical — it’s relational.

At Otorongo Futsal Bendigo, we’re not raising players.
We’re raising leaders, artists, and confident humans —
one small-sided game at a time.

What Makes Us Unique

  • Born from South American street futsal

  • Father–son coaching: real, relational, and grounded

  • Focused on expression, not perfection

  • A training environment that builds confidence, identity, and joy

Coaching Philosophy

We don’t run drills — we unlock instinct.
Our training is built on freedom, creativity, chaos, and connection.
We teach kids to think fast, move with confidence, and express who they are through the game.
